Perfect brows are a form of art

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading is a cutting edge method of permanent makeup designed to enhance the eyebrows. It involves a certified and licensed microblading artist using a hand held tool with a very fine needle grouping to draw individual hairs, creating the illusion of full and perfectly shaped beautiful eyebrows.

WHAT TO EXPECT

STEP 1

CONSULTATION
Welcome to Chelsea Leigh Beauty! This is where we’ll have you fill out the consent form and get to know you and your brow style. We’ll examine your shape and ask you a few questions about your daily routine. We’ll also discuss your shape preferences and brow pigment color.

STEP 2

BROW MAPPING
Using our measuring tools and the golden ratio we’ll custom design a brow outline that’s best proportioned to your facial features. At this point we may ask you to smile, frown, talk and laugh so we can see how your mimic muscles move. We’ll both review the design and make any adjustments necessary. Once the brows are approved, we’ll clean up the shape and begin!

STEP 3

MICROBLADING
Your brows are ready to begin their transformation! This is where we draw each individual hair by inserting pigment in the uppermost layer of the skin using a tiny handheld tool with a blade made of microneedles. We only use sterile and disposable tools and are compliant with all regulations by the Nassau County health department. Each brow design is unique in the sense that no two natural eyebrows are the exactly same. Our shapes will be as symmetrical as they can be for your face, but to achieve the most natural look, the hair strokes may vary slightly per brow.

STEP 4

AFTERCARE
All done and ready to show off your brows! We will review after care instructions with you and provide you with an aftercare kit that includes everything you’ll need for the initial healing period of 7-10 days. It’s vital that you adhere to the aftercare instructions to achieve the best results and retention for your brows. We wouldn’t want to waste all that time and TLC we just invested into them!

PREP & CARE

PRE-CARE

To achieve the most beautifully natural brows for your face, you will get the absolute best results by prepping for the appointment and following the after care. The eyebrow area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive, and non-irritated.

HERE’S HOW TO GET YOUR SKIN READY FOR THE PROCEDURE:

1.

1 MONTH BEFORE
– No Botox or any fillers 4 weeks prior
– No Facials for 2 weeks prior

2.

1 WEEK BEFORE
– No Tinting, Waxing or Electrolysis
– No Retinoid products
– No Tanning or intense Sun Exposure

3.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: TO PREVENT BLEEDING AND POOR COLOR DEPOSIT
24 HOURS BEFORE

– No Alcohol
– No Caffeine (yes that means coffee)
– No Vitamin E or Fish Oil Supplements
– No Excessive Sweating or working out

AFTER CARE

Post treatment care makes 50% of the total treatment success.  Conscientiously adhere to the given advice because if not, you can risk losing up to 80% of the drawn strokes.
At the end of your session, we will provide you with an after care kit that has everything you need for the 7-10 day healing process. This may vary per skin type, but 10 days recommended for the best results.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR THE FIRST 7-10 DAYS:
  • 30 minutes after treatment gently pat the area with a sterile water wipe. After apply a thin layer of the skin candy ointment using a cotton swab. Do this every 2 hours until you go to sleep. Make sure this is done 3-5 times for the day.
  • Day 2 & 3: gently pat the area with the sterile water wipe morning and evening. Be extra careful not to rub the brows hard, tug or scrub the brows. After apply a thin layer of the skin candy ointment.
  • Day 4-14: you may clean morning and evening with the cleanser or sterile water wipe. After cleaning you may apply an extremely thin layer of the skin candy ointment. If you have oil skin refrain from using the ointment.
  • Avoid getting the treated area wet for 7-10 days. Do not put face directly under water in the shower, and do not splash water directly onto the face when cleansing the face.
  • Do not scrub, rub or pick at the brows. Let the skin flake off naturally.
  • No sweating or excessive exercise for 7 days
  • Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen on the brow area for 7 days
  • Avoid any treatments involving touching the brows such as facials, lash extensions, etc. for 10 days
  • Avoid the sauna, steam room and swimming in the ocean or swimming pool for 10 days
  • Neosporin or Bacitracin type products should be avoided in the treated area because they may negatively affect the color retention. Only use the supplied ointment.
  • No facials, botox, chemical peels or microdermabrasions for 4 weeks
  • No major sun exposure or tanning for 2 weeks - after healing apply sunscreen to the brows to protect from sun fading

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
Microbladed eyebrows last 12-18 months for most people, before it usually needs a touch up. This can vary depending on the skin type, lifestyle and how you take care of the treated area.
DOES IT HURT?
Most clients report little to no pain, and would compare it to a tweezing session. Topical anesthetic is applied in the middle of the procedure so the client can feel at ease while receiving the treatment.
How long is the procedure?
A microblading session consists of a consultation the day of, where we review your lifestyle and daily brow maintenance.  We then map the brows according to your facial structure with the golden ratio of balanced proportion. Once you approve the brow shape, the procedure takes about an hour and a half.  This entire session takes a total of 2.5 hours.
WHEN SHOULD I GET A TOUCHUP?
We offer a complimentary touch up between 6 – 10 weeks of your appointment. After that, we charge a fee for annual or semi-annual touch ups.
Contradictions for microblading treatment
  • under 18 years old
  • pregnant or nursing
  • if you have skin diseases such as shingles, psoriasis or eczema on the area of treatment
  • prone to keloid scarring
  • if you have HIV, Hepatitis, skin cancer, hemophilia, lupus.
  • if you’re taking skin medications like accutane and steroids - accutane must be stopped for 6 months before procedure
  • stop the use of RetinA, Retinols, anti aging creams or creams that contain glycolic or salicylic acid or brow growth serums this will make your skin thinner and more sensitive.
  • Diabetes (increased risk of infection & slower to heal) consult your doctor
  • going through chemo therapy- consult your doctor
  • if you're taking blood thinners- blood thinners must be stopped several days before procedure. Consult your doctor
  • oily skin - the procedure can be done but healed results will not be optimal and results will not last as long
  • Thyroid issues- If you are taking any kind of thyroid medication, the microblading treatment can be done but the retention of the pigment may not be optimal. You may require an extra follow up appointment and more often follow up visits.
  • Antibiotics - you must finish the medication before getting your microblading procedure done
WHAT IF I AM TAKING A BLOOD THINNER?
Little bleeding is normal. Excessive bleeding, caused by blood thinners or a health problem, pushes the pigment out as quickly as it is being implanted. If an individual wants to have permanent makeup and is on blood thinners, then they should be discontinued for a week prior to and a few days after their appointment. Consult your physician to find out if that is possible and to seek clearance for this procedure. If aspirin has been recommended by a physician, then the doctor should be consulted prior to stopping any blood thinner.
HOW DO YOU MATCH THE COLOR OF THE HAIR?
Our pigments are of the highest quality and are pre-mixed to match every type of hair color.  We can mix in additional pigment colors to match each individual client. We take into consideration your natural skin color, hair color and eye color. A soft, natural color is always preferred. Your technician will help you choose the proper color.

ARE ACTIVITIES RESTRICTED DURING THE HEALING PROCESS?
It is important to avoid saunas, facials, steam baths, activities that will result in extreme sweating, tanning salons, sun and chlorinated or salt water pools for a minimum of a week and preferably two weeks after a procedure.
Is it permanent?
The microblading technique deposits color pigment into the uppermost layer of the skin and is considered permanent because it cannot be washed off. Unlike traditional tattoos performed on the body, permanent cosmetics professionals do not use traditional tattoo ink (dye). Permanent cosmetics pigment is more delicate and designed to work with the skin’s undertones and to mimic hair. Every person’s skin is different in regarding pigment retention. Factors which effect longevity of permanent cosmetics are: color selected, age, thickness of skin, scarring of skin, use of skin care products, injectables, laser treatments, medication and sun exposure. You will need periodic refreshing of color, depending on how light the shade of implanted pigment, as well as factors mentioned above.
